This is a group photo of all our team and some children from the self help group.

This kid was such a cutie, how I wish I had a baby brother

Hello lovelies
You may or may not know that I went Kenya on the 10th July from the 26th July, on a school trip. On the trip we supported a charity called Mend The Gap.

We left the airport from the UK to holland at 6am then our next stop was Nairobi. We arrived in Kenya around 8pm on Wednesday. For the night we stayed in the YMCA. The next day we set of to Kisii, which was a 7 hour drive. For the next 10 days this house was our home, where we were camping in the garden.

On the first week of  Monday to Friday we were meant to be groups, going to the local secondary, primary and nurseries, but as the schools were still on strike only one of the secondary schools and the nursery were open. So it ended up being four out of the five groups going to one school.

Once the 10 days were up we moved camp and set off to the Maasai, ready to go on the safari trip on Monday. The maasai mara was amazing, it was amazing seeing wild animals instead of them in a zoo. We managed to see 2 of the big five. The day after the Maasai, we visited a local village where they gave us a welcome dance and showed us round the village.

We then arrived at our next camp site near a lake, which was AMAZING!! We were allowed to buy our meal that day, so I ordered myself a burger which was the first bit of meat for two weeks (well if you don't count the day before, I ate goat.) The next day we arrived at the YMCA for our finally night sleep in Kenya, but before we could sleep we went to a restaurant which sold meat from all around the world, which was very interesting. The two different types of meat we got to try were crocodile and ostrich. I preferred eating ostrich, as it tasted more smoky whereas crocodile was more fishy.

Our final day in Kenya, we visited the slums and went to the schools in the slums. We then went to a private school for boys, which was very different to all the other schools we visited in Kenya. Our final day was very short, as we wanted to get to the airport early, because of kenyan traffic which is very different to the UK.

If you EVER get the chance to go to a 3rd world country, TAKE IT!! I've literally changed as a person. I've tried new skills, made new friendships and even new food. Every single £ spend on the trip, was worth it. If you have any questions about my trip or just in general please comment below.
